Grading
Policy
Mr. Dodd
Grades are determined in the following manner for each course.
Regents Physics: Your grade is determined in the following
manner:
Tests: 40% Tests are graded out of 100 points.
Quizzes: 10% Quzzes vary in the number of points, usually 2 to 10 points.
Labs: 25% Labs are graded out of 10 points.
Homework: 20% Each homework is 5 points.
Class participation/preparedness: 5% Assigned by the teacher at the end of the
marking period, based on attendance (1%), participation (1%), preparation for
class (1%), and completion of assignments (2%).
Homework can be made up for partial credit within 3 school days. I give make-up
tests, you will get the better grade. Make-up tests must be taken within 5 days
of the test. Anyone can take the make-up. We usually go over tests the next
day or period. If you miss a test and do not make it up before we go over it,
you can only take the make-up. Late labs will be given a grade of 0 after the
first 5 weeks (Oct. 13), but counted towards the lab requirement to take the
Regents Final.
Java and Robotics:
Tests: 30%
Quizes: 10%
Programming projects: 60%
Tests will be open note/book. Parts of some tests will need to be done on the
computer. All tests will need to be completed in a class period. There will
not be makeup tests given as a general policy. Program due dates are a little
flexible but you should not be more than 5 school days late. There will be adequate
time to complete programs in class if you are doing the adequate amount of out
of class work.
