No School for Students Friday, November 16, 2018


Dear Parents and Guardians,


I am sending this correspondence home with your student in case you did not get the test message from our new emergency messaging system yesterday.  We are going to have a Two-Hour Delay for our staff tomorrow, Friday November 16th.  Because we were previously scheduled to have an Early Release Day for Staff Development, students will be off the entire day.  We will not bring students in for an hour and then have to send them home.  In addition to this letter, we will also be proceeding with sending an emergency message detailing this change for our students.


The reason for this scheduling change is based on both the current weather forecast and the district hosting the Area All-State Concert tomorrow and Saturday.  We are hoping the delay will allow our students and those from surrounding schools to be able to attend the practice and performance without compromising their safety.  In the event that the weather prevents other schools from traveling to our district for Friday’s rehearsal activities, the Saturday performance scheduled for 3:00 p.m. will still take place.


I am sorry for the confusion and any inconvenience this may cause, but we are hoping to give you as much notice as possible so you can make arrangements for your children.  Thank you for your support, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office.

Emergency Broadcast System - Test Call


The Ticonderoga Central School District will conduct a test call of the emergency broadcast system tonight, Wednesday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m.

Ticonderoga Sports' Fields Closure

With current weather conditions and work that needs to be done to prepare the fields for winter, all Ticonderoga Central School District fields will be closed effective Thursday, November 1st.  Thank you for your cooperation.

SchoolTool Parent Portal

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are happy to announce that the new SchoolTool Parent Portal is open.  At this time, the Portal will only be open for High School and Middle School students.  If you would like a Parent Portal account, please provide your full name, email address and the name and grade of each child to the Central Registrar, Mrs. Amanda Nephew, via email at anephew@ticonderogak12.org or via phone at (518) 585-7400, ext. 1112.  You will only need one account to view all of your students.

Once we have your correct email address, office staff will create your account, and then you will receive an email with your login name, temporary password and login instructions.  Instructions for accessing the portal can be found at:

Instagram Post Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter the long weekend, we would like to give you an update on the Instagram incident that took place earlier this week.

The police have and will continue to be present at Elementary-Middle School in the morning as students arrive.  They will also periodically stop in all schools throughout the day to interact with staff and students.

District Staff are increasing their presence in the hallways and entryways, especially during arrival and dismissal.

The District is in the process of organizing a community safety committee and have been in contact with Champlain Valley Instructional Services to help with this process.  The goal is to have the first meeting some time next week, or early the following week.  We have had several parents and community members already volunteer for this committee.  We will be looking at our facilities, communication procedures, and school safety plans.

The police are continuing their investigation and are following all leads.  The Social Media branch in Raybrook is working with our local police on identifying potential suspects.  The Chief of Police wanted us to continue to remind everyone that there is no credible threat.

Board of Education Meeting Discussion on Instagram Post

About 50 parents and community members attended the regular Board of Education meeting this evening to express concerns over the most recent Instagram issue.  Discussion centered around improving communication, facility upgrades to improve security including closing in all classrooms at the Elementary Middle School, establishing a school safety committee comprised of school staff, community and parents, increase police presence in the buildings, and developing a plan to help students feel safe when they return to school.  In addition, the police gave an update on the investigation and what their plan of action was for the immediate future.

    The Ticonderoga Police Department will have officers at the school both Wednesday and Thursday mornings while students arrive.  They will also be in all the schools periodically throughout the day to help students feel safe. The State Police will also be in the schools both days.  The investigation is in the hands of the social media specialist branch in Raybrook, and they hope to have something soon.

    The School District will be establishing a safety committee to discuss communication and facility upgrades to meet throughout the rest of the spring and summer to develop a plan to take to the community.  The administration will revisit school safety plans, arrival and dismissal procedures, and internal communication to improve how information is disseminated to parents and families.

The District appreciates and thanks those parents, guardians and community members who were able to make the meeting this evening, and cannot stress enough the importance of school safety.  The District will take the feedback and suggestions from the meeting...

Instagram Post

Dear Ticonderoga Central School District Parents and Guardians:

Over the weekend an Instagram post was found directed at the Ticonderoga Middle School, it was shared with the school on Monday morning. The District immediately contacted the local police, who have increased their presence in the district since being notified. The local police are investigating this threat; they have classified this post as a “non direct, non specific, non credible threat” and do not believe the author is from this area. They are continuing the investigation and have referred it to the Social Media Unit.

Secondly, the District was contacted by the State Police who are conducting an operation that has nothing to do with the school. This operation is purely coincidental with the timing of the Instagram post.

All threats to our school and students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. If you discover anything that can assist in this investigation, please contact us immediately.

Ticonderoga CSD Announces Fall Sports Health Updates

The dates for students interested in playing a fall sport to complete their health update form are:

JV and Varsity Sports 

August 9th, at the High School Nurse's Office
7:00 a.m. Football
8:00 a.m. Soccer 
9:00 a.m. XC
*Make up date August 13th, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

Modified Sports 

August 16th, at the Middle School Nurse's Office
5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Football, Soccer and XC
*Make up date August 17th, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

All students are required to have a completed health update form signed by their parent to submit at the time of the health update.  For JV and Varsity sports, please have the athlete attend and submit the form.  For modified sports, please have a parent or guardian attend and submit the form in hopes of clearing up any questions the nurse may have.  

Students are required to have their health update form completed before practices begin.

Ticonderoga Elementary & Middle Schools Open House Dates

Ticonderoga Middle School will hold its Annual Open House on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.  The evening will begin with parents acquiring their student’s schedule in the Middle School Lobby, followed by a short presentation in the Auditorium and then proceed to scheduled “periods” for parents to experience their student’s daily schedule.  All members of the community are encouraged to attend.


Ticonderoga Elementary School will host its annual Open House on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. for grades UPK to 5th Grade.  Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes, the Elementary Principal, will hold a short meeting, welcoming students and families at 6:00 p.m.  For parents with more than one child in the Elementary School, there will be more than one classroom presentation done during the evening to allow flexibility of attendance.  Community organizations will also be present to disseminate information to families.  We look forward to meeting with you.



Early Dismissal - Friday, November 16, 2018

There will be an Early Dismissal for Ticonderoga Central School District Students and St. Mary’s Students on Friday, November 16, 2018. There will be staff development activities during the afternoon.
