Course Description and Expectations: This full-year class will provide you with a thorough background in the basic accounting procedures used to operate a business. The accounting procedures covered will serve as a background for future employment as well as preparing for college business course offerings. Topics to be covered include three types of business accounting—proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. Each type of business is presented in a complete accounting cycle covering analyzing transactions, journalizing, posting, petty cash, financial statements and adjusting and closing entries.

Grading Policy: 25% classwork and projects, 25% homework, and 50% tests

Late Work Policy: Classwork and assignments are accepted within two days of absence.

Test makeup policy:
Tests and homework must be made up within 2 days of return. For long term absence student must confer with teacher.

Grades will be posted within 2 days of the assignment or test.


Personal and Business Law

Topics covered include ethics, the court system, criminal law, employment law, sole proprietorship and partnership law, real estate law, contracts, borrowing money and buying on credit, divorce, retirement and wills. The business/personal law topics covered will serve as a background for future employment as well as preparing for college business course offerings.
