Algebra II
Course Description:
Algebra II is the final course leading to the Math B Regents Examination and an Advanced Regents Diploma. The syllabus follows the requirements as outlined by the New York State Education Department. Topics of study include functions, proofs, complex numbers, geometry of the circle, logarithms, and trigonometry. All students enrolled in the course must take the Math B Regents in June.

Grading Policy:
Tests are given after each unit of study (every 2 or 3 weeks) and form a major component of the student's quarter grade. Quizzes are given throughout each unit and range in value of 6 to 40 points. Quarter grades are calculated by taking the total number of points the student received and dividing it by the total number of points they could have received. Grades are posted on Power School the day after the quiz or test is taken.
The Math B Regents Examination and the four-quarter grades are used in computing the student's final grade.

Homework Policy:

Homework is given every day and is due at the beginning of class. Students are responsible for any work they miss while they are absent. Missed homework will result in a deduction of points on a quiz or test. Late homework will not be accepted.

AP Statistics
Course Description:
The Advanced Placement course in Statistics is an introduction to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students will be exposed to four broad themes: (1) Exploratory Analysis; (2) Planning a Statistical Study; (3) Probability; and, (4) Statistical Inference. All students enrolled in the course are expected to take the A. P. Statistics examination given in May.

Pre-Requisites: Algebra II for seniors or students concurrently taking Pre-Calculus.

Exams are given after each unit of study (every 4 or 5 weeks) and form a major component of the student's quarter grade. Quizzes (in-class and take-home) are given throughout each unit and range in point value of 10 to 40 points. Quarter grades are calculated by taking the total number of points the student received and dividing it by the total number of points he/she could have received. Grades are posted on Power School.
A semester exam is given and, along with the four-quarter grades, is used in computing the student's final grade.

Homework Policy:

Homework is given every day and is due at the beginning of the class. Students are responsible for any work they miss while they are absent. Students who miss class should email the teacher for class notes and assignments or make arrangements with their classmates to obtain the work. Late homework and take-home quizzes will not be accepted, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
