Work Experience InternshipCourse Description: This is a work-based learning course designed to help the student better understand the world of work. Students will have the opportunity to intern in a career area of interest while earning credits toward graduation. Internship hours occur during the school day. Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from the work site.
Grading Policy: 70% Work Related Points
30% Internship Portfolio
Mid-Year/Final Exam: There are no written exams in this class.
Late Work: Time sheets and journals must be turned in each week. Points will be deducted from paperwork that is not submitted each week.
Homework: Students have a weekly time sheet and journal that must be completed and signed by their work site supervisor each week. There is also a monthly supervisor’s evaluation that needs to be completed each month. Throughout the internship, students are required to develop an internship portfolio. This portfolio will be submitted for grading at the end of each marking period.
Grades: Since there are no daily grades, no grades will appear on Powerschool until the end of the marking period.
Miscellaneous Issues: Since this is a work experience program, students will be expected to dress in appropriate career attire, while at the work site.
