Grades
Marking period grades are based upon the following:
Homework 30%
Tests 30%
Quizzes 10%
Binder 10%
Writing/Projects 10%
Class Participation 10%
Writing assignments such as DBQs and Thematic Essays require significantly more work than traditional one-night homework assignments, and are therefore a separate category. Students will also be asked to complete several projects throughout the year. All assignments may be handed in late up until the end of the marking period. Students will have points deducted from late assignments based upon the tardiness of the assignment. Students are required to make up any missed test, quiz or assignment, barring special circumstance. Students and parents can expect to see graded assignments posted in PowerGrade within one week of the assignment’s submission.
Term and semester grades are calculated as follows:
Marking Period 1 17%
Marking Period 2 17%
Mid Term Exam 16%
Marking Period 3 17%
Marking Period 4 17%
Final Exam 16%
