TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION COURSES
An Advanced Regents Diploma can be obtained by meeting course requirements that would include a 5-unit sequence in vocational studies to replace the three-year language sequence.
MARINE TECHNOLOGY I
Marine Technology I is an introductory course. With an emphasis on safety, students
will learn wood techniques, and electricity/electronics as it relates to the
marine industry. No pre-requisite necessary.
MARINE TECHNOLOGY II
Marine Technology II uses job management skills needed to be a quality employee
in the marine industry. Basic engine principles and design will be covered in
detail. Other areas include four stroke engines, two stroke engines, ignition,
starting systems, trouble shooting along with simple engine rebuilding. Welding
and hull repair are also covered. Pre-requisite: Marine Technology I or teacher
recommendation.
MARINE TECHNOLOGY III
Marine Technology III is devoted to major student projects. Senior projects
or their equivalent will be developed, built, and presented to a panel along
with the public.
