Youth and Government
Mr. Jay Wells, Advisor
Youth and Government is a program designed to introduce the student to the New
York State Governmental Process. The student has the option of choosing from
a variety of roles: legislator, lawyer, lobbyist, etc... If you are really ambitious,
the position of Governor, Lieutenant Governor or Chief Justice are also open
for election. As members of the Ticonderoga delegation, you will first travel
to Silver Bay for the District Three Conference. Here you will present your
legislation (bills) to a committee for debate and revisions. After the district
conference, it is on to Albany for the State Conference. This includes a weekend
of spirited debate against members from other districts in New York State. This
program builds leadership, public speaking and organizational skills... and
looks great on a high school transcript.
