District's Strategic Planning Team - Possible Building Merger

The reality of declining enrollment, increased costs, a cap on the tax levy, and a reduction in State and Federal Aid has forced the Ticonderoga Central School District to explore changes in the manner in which it does business.  How to meet the needs of students while responding to the challenges created by these pressures has been the focus of the District’s Strategic Planning Team this fall.

The Board of Education directed a team of school district volunteers to study the feasibility of establishing a Junior-Senior High School at the current Calkins Place location.  The group was tasked with identifying the possible advantages and concerns for such a change, and has explored ways to increase efficiency and effectively utilize staff, while maintaining a commitment to academic excellence.

The long-range goal is to continue to provide a quality education that affords all students with the skills to be competitive after high school graduation.  It is anticipated that reorganization would also support future fiscal stability.

A presentation will be made at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 16th at 6:00 pm in the Ticonderoga High School Cafeteria.  The public is welcome to attend.
