The Essex County Health Department (ECHD) has been notified of a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in a member of the Ticonderoga Central School Community. The Health Department has also received a list of contacts from the school. This includes staff and students that were last in contact with the case while at school on the dates of Sept. 15, 16 & 17. Only these staff and students meeting current quarantine criteria will fall under a Health Order of Quarantine from the last date of exposure for 10 days.
Individuals will be contacted directly by the Essex County Health Department Contact Tracing Staff or the NYSDOH Contact Tracing Staff, who will conduct an informational interview and issue the Quarantine Notice. Please do not call the Health Department directly. We will call those meeting quarantine criteria within 48 hours.
Note-Changes for the 2021-2022 School Year: ECHD follows CDC, NYS Education Department, and NYSDOH guidance for identifying close contacts of positive cases. In general, a close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. In the P-12 indoor classroom setting, the CDC specifies that students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student where both students were engaged in consistent and correct use of well-fitting masks are not considered close contacts and do not need to quarantine. Additionally, fully vaccinated individuals are not considered close contacts and are not subject to quarantine, unless they are symptomatic.
