COVID-19 - School Closure Update #2

March 18, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members:

The last few days have been challenging, but rewarding as an educational leader to see our staff work tirelessly together during this abrupt time in our lives. I am extremely proud of the work our staff has completed this week.

Food Services:

We began delivering our first sets of meals today.   The cafeteria, transportation and other various staff members prepared and delivered over 200 meals.   We will be over 300 tomorrow. If you would like your child to participate in this program, please email FOOD@Ticonderogak12.org.  If you do not have access to email, please call 518-585-7400 ext 1134.

To maintain social distancing, the package will be delivered with a knock on your door.  The individual delivering will not wait for you to answer the door. Please understand that this procedure is being put in place to protect all involved.  We expect these packages to be delivered between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but please allow flexibility with times as we begin this process.

School work:

Our staff prepared a wonderful and diverse curriculum for your child.  When you first receive the work, DON’T PANIC.  Your child’s teacher(s) will be reaching out to you and/or your child to guide them through it.  Teachers will be available through email and they will reach out by telephone. If you see ‘No Caller ID’, please pick up the phone as it most likely is someone from school.

Home instruction work will be delivered Friday (3-19-20) or Monday (3-23-20).  Work, like the meals, will be delivered with a knock on the door. We will not wait for you to answer.   Work pick up will be arranged at a later date.

In addition, CVES BOCES is compiling a great number of online learning and educational resources.  This webpage can be found at: https://www.cves.org/online-learning-educational-resources/.

Thank you for all the support.  Remember, we are all in this together.

Sincerely,

John W. Donohue

Interim Superintendent of Schools
