Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
We are currently living in a very difficult time in our history. As you are well aware, we have been following the guidance of the Essex County Public Health Department, NYS Department of Health and the New York State Education Department. This guidance helped us to develop strategies of preparation in case of the spread of COVID-19, the coronavirus. All of our decisions are to best protect our students, staff and community.
This weekend the decision was made to close schools in our CVES BOCES region until at least 4/19/20.
This situation is rapidly evolving and we will continue to work diligently to provide our families with updates as information becomes available. We have continuous contact with health officials and follow their direction with great care. If their guidance requires an extension on this closing, we will notify families immediately.
We are currently working on how to help provide meals to our students. As soon as we finalize a workable plan we will notify parents through a robo-call and by information on our website. Please note, the district is only able to provide food services during the week.
Our staff is working extremely hard to develop instructional techniques to help our students continue learning during this time. These plans will evolve as we develop best practices. While we place the finishing touches on the plan, our local CVES BOCES is compiling a great number of online learning and educational resources. This webpage can be found at:
Our buildings and grounds will not be accessible for public use until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience but the public health evidence shows that by increasing social distancing and interventions like this can effectively limit the spread of pathogens and outbreaks.
We understand the range of emotions and viewpoints attached to the Coronavirus and I would like to thank our community for their patience and support through this difficult time.
John W. Donohue
Interim Superintendent of Schools
